Craft Designs, Inc (CDI) is pleased to announce it has received the ISO 0991:2015 / AS9100D:2016 certificate for the fifth straight year. This registration is in accordance with the standards set by the International Standards Organization (ISO). CDI began pursing certification in August 2016 with the help of The Core Solutions consulting group. This process included aligning and adjusting existing procedures to satisfy the standards set forth in ISO9001:2015/AS9100D:2016.
In preparation for the initial ISO certification, CDI identified and trained six internal auditors to audit company procedures in the year leading up to the certification. The goal of these audits was to ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015/AS9100D:2016 standards. This rigorous audit process culminated with CDI being awarded ISO certification by Perry Johnson Registrars in May 2017.
Commitment to the ISO standard by top management is key for providing accountability and companywide motivation to ensure that the quality management system (QMS) produces continuous improvement. It is the responsibility of Top Management to ensure that the criterion of the ISO9001:2015 standard is reflected by the policies and procedures of the company. A strong customer focus and a continuous approach to process improvement are key facets of CDI’s QMS.
CDI’s standards are specifically designed to cater to companies who work directly in the aviation, space and defense industries. AS9100D:2016 follows a structure of ISO9001:2015 which focuses on risk‐based thinking, planning, support, and leadership. CDI is considered an industry leader in the southeastern united states being one of the first companies to achieve a AS9100D:2016 certification.
In addition to the ISO certification, CDI proudly maintains a CMMI‐DEV V1.3 Maturity Level 3 certification. The culmination of combining these standards has effectively reinforced the process driven software development that CDI customers have come to expect and appreciate. This process driven mindset extends to the independent verification and validation of flight safety critical and airworthy software applications. These robust capabilities are a product of years of experience in developing Flight Performance Models and other applications that interface with multi‐platform mission planning systems.
