CMMI-DEV ML3 2025

Craft Designs, Inc. (CDI), a woman-owned small business in Huntsville, Alabama, is pleased to announce its sixth successful appraisal at Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development, CMMI-DEV, Maturity Level 3.

This appraisal continues CDI’s long-standing commitment to disciplined software engineering, repeatable processes, and continuous improvement. CDI first achieved CMMI-DEV Maturity Level 3 in 2010 and has continued to maintain that standard through multiple re-appraisals across more than fifteen years of software development, verification, and process improvement work.

The 2025 appraisal was conducted at the organizational level by Neil Potter of The Process Group in September 2025.

CMMI appraisals help organizations evaluate how well their processes align with recognized industry best practices. Achieving Maturity Level 3 demonstrates that CDI’s development processes are defined, understood, and consistently applied across the organization. For CDI, this is not just a process achievement. It reflects the way our team plans, develops, verifies, and delivers software in support of defense, aerospace, and other mission-critical environments.

CDI specializes in process-driven software engineering with a focus on flight performance models, embedded software, data loaders, mission planning applications, DevSecOps, and software verification and validation. CDI’s work supports safety-critical and mission-essential systems across fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and ground-based applications, including systems that require disciplined development practices aligned with airworthiness expectations and DO-178C objectives.

In addition to its CMMI-DEV Maturity Level 3 appraisal, CDI maintains ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100D certification. Together, these achievements reflect CDI’s continued commitment to quality, repeatable execution, and practical process improvement in support of its customers.
